“I live my art as a deep path of openness and knowledge, in which each painting becomes the materialization of an introspective, dreamlike and extravagant world.”

Italian artist Emanuele Tozzoli has been painting and creating since he was old enough to pick up a brush, learning the art from his father – a renowned painter and sculptor.

“I discovered the world of art in childhood through my father Dario, an artist who has been painting and creating sculptures with every type of material for over 40 years.

I have memories of when I was about 7 or 8 years old that, with my father, I painted and created my first small sculptures by assembling objects, I discovered a side of creative and fascinating art.”

After pursuing his creative endeavors in the music field, Tozzoli now uses painting to create a deep connection between his inner being and the present moment. He elaborates a unique working method that summarizes all the experiences gained in the artistic and related fields. He lives his art as a deep path of openness and knowledge, in which each painting becomes the materialization of an introspective, dreamlike and extravagant world.

Tozzoli enjoys using different materials together. He is intrigued by the depth that is created by combining different mediums. All his works are mixed media, mainly using acrylics, oil pastels, spray paints, markers, pens, wall glazes and collages. He worked for several years as a decorator and restorer of wall paintings with the Turin art master Silvio Scarafiotti, this had a major impact on his work method and way of conceiving painting and art.

In his paintings he uses an instinctive and visceral workflow, through which he creates a deep connection between his inner life and the present moment.

He uses a recurring symbology characteristic of his style that recalls the original forms of childhood.

His exhibition of eight portraits at Daville Baillie Gallery in Lorentzville, Johannesburg, is his first on the African continent.

“I would say that lately I have had two exhibitions of which I am really very satisfied. The first in Mermaid beach, Australia and the second in Johannesburg, South Africa. Soon there will be my solo show in Turin, Italy, a date I have been working on for a long time.”
